AVON, Ohio — Over the past couple of years, News 5 has reported a laundry list of issues with an Avon cemetery.

Customers have reported flooding grounds, broken and submerged headstones, horrible customer service and much more at Resthaven Memory Gardens.

"It's heartbreaking, its unbelievable," said Mo Dayem.

Dayem is the most recent unhappy customer. He says he was going to visit his deceased cousin, but could barely get close to his headstone.

"My feet were soaking wet just from walking around," he said.

He snapped pictures while walking around and even used a tape measure to show how deep those puddles were. Dayem says they were everywhere.

Lindsay Granson, The National Vice President of Sales and Marketing of StoneMor Partners L.P., the owners of Resthaven Memory Gardens, emailed News 5 this statement:

"We are aware of the flooding issues at Resthaven in Avon, Ohio and have been working diligently to assess and formulate the correct plan of action so our families do not have to deal with this issue moving forward. We are happy to say that we are most likely 48 hours away from an executed contract with the engineers and work should begin soon after. We regret any inconvenience this has caused our families and we look forward to resolving the matter as soon as possible."

Granson also acknowledges they've had the same flooding problem fixed before, but the issues just kept coming back.

Dayem says he's hoping the standing water will be fixed for good but isn't hopeful and instead wants to see real change.

"These folks can no longer vote, obviously but they do have thousands of family members who can vote so I call on the Ohio State representatives to get together to enact some laws to regulate cemeteries," said Dayem.
