An elderly woman died in a fire on Greenwood Court, according to authorities.
The Elyria Fire Department reported they received a call for the fire around 5:40 a.m.
Elyria Fire said the elderly woman likely died of smoke inhalation.
Officials said the fire started on the ground floor of the residence and spread to the attic. It took about 35 minutes to contain.
According to authorities, the woman as home with her elderly brother who was distraught but otherwise fine.
