North Ridgeville abduction confusion ends OK

North Ridgeville police said they received a report on Wednesday around 2:45 p.m. about a 12-year-old girl who was pulled into a white van, which was almost correct but not quite.

According to police, the report was an 11-year-old boy saw what happened to the girl at the intersection of Ridge Plaza and Center Ridge Road.

Police said the van possibly had the word 'elite' on it. Two businesses were checked out with the word 'elite' in their names, but police have not found anything.

After a short time, the van in question was located by police and the driver willingly returned to the police department for questioning.

Police Chief Mike Freeman said the 11-year-old had the story right, except the 12-year-old girl he saw was actually a petite 46-year-old blond woman. And, the woman wasn't being abducted--she was giving her uncle, who was in the van, a hug.

Some parents of North Ridgeville Schools received a robotic phone call telling them to ask their children if anything had been seen regarding the possible child abduction.

Police said there was no report for a missing child filed.
