Avon Lake Fire Department assisted with a water rescue took place Monday after a catamaran flipped over in Lake Erie.
The incident happened near 33740 Lake Road and caused two people to end up in the water. The fire department said those two people tried to get the boat upright, but had no luck.
A passing boat came over to help, but they couldn't pull the victims in, because they were too exhausted to get into the boat, according to authorities.
Those helping called 911. A nearby Coast Guard boat was able to get there quickly, and get the two victims out of the water and back to shore.
Other than exhaustion, no injuries were reported and there was no need for either person to go to the hospital.
The boat that flipped over will need to be towed to the shore and pulled out.
