At least seven area fire and police crews battled a brush fire at Whipps Ledges and Hinckley Reservation on Friday night.
The fire began around 8:30 p.m. and blazed for several hours. Currently, authorities say they're ensuring the fire is completely out.
The fire didn't damage any buildings in the park, said Stephanie Winget, a MetroParks official, said in an email. She said Whipp's Ledges will remain closed to the public until further notice.
Several fire companies from Hinckley, Brunswick Hills, Granger and Richfield were called to the scene to assist, but no homes are believed to be in danger, according to Hinckley dispatchers.
