Homes in two counties have been ransacked and burglarized in recent days and now local law enforcement agencies are investigating whether they are connected.

The Medina County Sheriff's Office is investigating several burglaries at homes in Granger Township. Thieves appear to be targeting homes that are not visible from the road.

According to the sheriff's office, all homes were entered by force and ransacked.

Richfield police are investigating a similar incident.

According to a police report, a woman arrived at her home Friday to find that the door from her into her house was open.

She called police and responding officers found that a window had been removed from the side of the home.

Officers reported rooms, boxes, cabinets and furniture had been rummaged through. A large amount of jewelry was taken, according to police.

The Medina County Sheriff's Office is investigating leads on possible suspects.

Officials ask that residents keep a photo inventory of their valuables to help with recovery. The sheriff's office also advises residents to look out for each other.
