MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio — A man was caught on camera in Medina County stealing packages from a couples porch, but he isn’t your average package thief.
Investigators say not only is he stealing from a stranger's house, he's the one who sent the package there in the first place
“This person has shown up to their house on Thursday and Friday of last week to retrieve what I will call stolen phones,” said the victim's daughter, who did not want to be identified.
She said her mom and step dad were confused when they got a package from Sprint last week with an $1,100 iPhone inside. They immediately called the company and learned this was the third phone sent to their house and there was one more on the way.
“The person who went online, on the Sprint website set up an account in is name and used his social security number, and his date of birth, which is extremely disturbing to me and they set up an online account,” said the daughter.
The couple went back to their security footage and saw a guy go to the house two days in a row last week to pick up the stolen phones right off their porch.
“He took it upon himself to just walk up there like he owned the place,” she said. “He doesn’t even look nervous, so that's what I think is really baffling to me.”
Sprint has shut down the account and local police are investigating, but the victims want this guy caught
“Look at the footage, look at this guy, see if he looks familiar,” she said. “I mean he is wearing bright orange pants and a black hoodie-bright orange pants I don't know a lot of people that wear them.”
