Bus driver charged in Streetsboro crash

Posted

One bus driver has been charged in connection with a crash that injured 19 people in Streetsboro.

Wande Templeton, 48, of Ravenna, was charged with one count of assured clear distance ahead, a minor misdemeanor.

Three school buses were involved in a chain-reaction crash on Jan. 13. One driver and 18 students were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

The other drivers in the crash were identified as Sherrill Shaffer, 44, and Petrina Twigger, 52, both of Streetsboro.

After the crash, Streetsboro Police Chief Darin Power pushed for seat belts on all school buses.

"I’m required to wear it when I’m driving, but for our kids not to have it, I think it’s a misjustice for our kids not to have seatbelts,” Powers told newsnet5.com.
