Man dies after his motorcycle went off the road, hitting a tree and catching on fire in Hiram Twp

HIRAM TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A Hiram man has died after his motorcycle went off the road before hitting a tree in Hiram Township on Sunday afternoon.

The crash was reported at around 3:51 p.m.

Leonard C. Roman Jr., 64, of Hiram, was traveling eastbound on Mumford Road, just west of State Route 88 in Portage County, when his Yamaha motorcycle went off the road.

He lost control as he was navigating a curve in the road, which caused his motorcycle to flip over before hitting a tree and catching on fire.

There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.

Roman was not wearing a helmet and died from his injuries at the scene, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash remains under investigation.
