Kristeen L. Pascoe, 48, was arrested on Tuesday on South Francis Street for stealing back cats that were taken from her, according to the Portage County Sheriff.
According to the Portage County Sheriff, on March 11 around 5:45 a.m., deputies went to the Portage Animal Protective League, located at 8122 Infirmary Rd., in Shalersville Township. An employee arrived and found a window broken out and someone had gone inside the building. According to Portage APL, the building's alarm system malfunctioned and did not call the Sheriff's Department. A check revealed several cats were missing from the facility. Due the investigation, it was learned that the cats were taken away from Pascoe by a Kent City Compliance Officer in early February.
Portage County Sheriff also reported that on March 11 that an attempted entry was made to the Water Resources Department, also located on Infirmary Road. The Water Resource building and the Animal Protective League building are adjacent to each other.
Officials were able to obtain information from an investigation linking Pascoe to both incidents. Contact was made with her on March 11 and she was arrested.
Pascoe is currently in Portage Jail, officials said. She was charged with one count of breaking and entering, two counts of vandalism, and one count of theft. She was arraigned and given a $15,000 bond.
