When checking on registered sex offenders, officials found only four out of 401 contacted were out of compliance in the city, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Office.
On Feb. 17-18, the Richland County Sheriff's Office, with help from the US Marshal's Service as well as Mansfield, Plymouth, and Galion Police Departments, Adult Court Services and the State Parole Authority, a Countywide Sex Offender compliance check was completed.
Officials said the priority for the two-day operation was to emphasize compliance to the 355 active sex offenders registered in Richland County.
Out of 401 contacts that were completed, officials reported only four offenders were found to be out of compliance.
Officials said the 1,700 sex offender contacts in 2015 and the current compliance rate of 99 percent shows the high priority the Richland County Sheriff's Office places on its sex offender registration program. The state average is 90 percent.
