JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Jackson Township police have issued a statement refuting a social media post that claimed a man grabbed a woman's stroller with her son in an attempted mall abduction. Police say it didn't happen.

The Jackson Township police posted on Facebook:

Recently an individual posted on Facebook that an incident had occurred at Belden Village Mall where a male had grabbed the stroller with her son in it and ran away from her. She stated that this incident had occurred in the Mall on May 22, 2019. She stated that an individual stopped him and her son was unharmed. The supposed victim was contacted and advised officers that this incident was fabricated. She had never contacted the police department and no report was made. The Jackson Township Police Department takes allegations like this very seriously and works together with Belden Village Mall to ensure the security of citizens and visitors to the mall and the township. Once again, this incident "DID NOT HAPPEN."
