Louisville police looking for owner of urn

Posted

Louisville police are hoping to track down the owner of an urn that was found by a resident with ashes inside it.

According to a police report, a woman told police that she had found the urn about a month ago in the 200 block of Woodard Avenue.

She posted a picture of the urn on a Louisville community Facebook page and held on to it for safe keeping.

But since the owner never contacted her, she recently decided to turn it over to police.

The urn is described as silver or pewter and does have some ashes in it, according to police.

After posting about the urn on the police department Facebook page, they have received some tips regarding urns stolen in the area.

"I think if any of us put ourselves in that position and it was a loved one of ours that had died and was placed in an urn, we would want it back too," said Louisville Police Chief Andrew Turowski.
