Massillon mom's act of kindness is rewarded as she deals with heartache

A mother of two in Massillon believes in paying it forward, and her recent act of kindness towards two deputies isn’t going unnoticed.

In embracing the holiday spirit and working to spread some cheer, Erin Wise paid for two Stark County deputies' meals when she noticed them in line behind her at a Canton restaurant.

Moved by her act of kindness, the deputies struck up a conversation with her and learned that, despite her kind gesture, Erin is going through her own heartache - her 4-year-old son Teagan's cancer has returned.

Erin left before the deputies were able to get her name, but they wanted to make sure they could return the favor. So they posted her picture on the Stark County Sheriff's Department Facebook page and eventually learned the name of the person who had shown them kindness.

In an attempt to return the selfless act, the deputies whose meals Erin paid for and Sheriff George Maier invited Erin's family to their Shop with a Sheriff program. Erin accepted the invitation and the deputies will take Erin and her children shopping December 16.
