Police investigating after video appears to show student with firearm at Alliance High School

ALLIANCE, Ohio — The Alliance Police Department has opened an investigation after a gun was confiscated from a student At Alliance High School, according to the school district.

On Thursday afternoon, The Alliance City School District was made aware of a video on social media that appeared to show a student in possession of a firearm on school grounds.

The student in question had left the school grounds as part of the school’s early release schedule, but when the district became aware of the video, police were contacted.

Officers apprehended the student off of school grounds and confiscated a firearm, the district said.

No students or staff were harmed, according to the district.

Police are now investigating the incident, and the student in question is not permitted on district grounds during the investigation, the district said.

Alliance City Schools said it does not tolerate the possession of weapons of any type in any school building, vehicle at any interscholastic competition, extracurricular event or at any other program or activity.

The student, if found to have violated the student code of conduct, will face additional disciplinary action, according to the district.
