A Stark County middle school was placed on lockdown Thursday after school officials caught a 6th-grader with shell casings.
North Canton Middle School was placed on a "precautionary" lockdown after the casings were found while officials ensured that there was no gun inside the building.
No gun was found and the lockdown was lifted. The district released the following in a statement:
The safety of the students is our number one priority and we will continue to keep you informed as we have more details to provide. By keeping the lines of communication open among our students, staff, parents and community, it is our hope that the best interest of our students will be served. We thank you for your trust in our schools.
