A fire that started on a deck and spread to a propane tank destroyed both sides of a duplex in Reminderville Tuesday morning.
According to the fire chief, the fire broke out at a duplex on Dolphin Cove in the Aurora Shores neighborhood around 3 a.m.
The fire started on the back deck and then ignited a propane tank which exploded and caused flames to race up the back of the home. Reminderville, Solon, Bainbridge, Twinsburg, Streetsboro, Aurora and Oakwood firefighters responded to help tackle the flames.
Neighbors told newsnet5.com that three people escaped from both sides of the duplex.
The fire chief said an elderly woman who normally slept in the back of the duplex was taken to the hospital Monday, and was therefore not in her usual room. If she had been in there, she could have been gravely injured.
