Charges against former Akron police chief's nephew dropped

Posted

The charges against former Akron police chief's nephew have been dismissed.

Joseph Nice was facing multiple charges, including grand theft and forgery. He was accused of forging a title at an Akron auto lot where he worked

Nice's uncle, Police Chief James Nice, was asked to resign at the end of August after Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan was informed of "evidence of conduct unbecoming of an officer, inappropriate contact with a city employee and potential criminal misconduct."

The mayor says the potential criminal misconduct was related to the ongoing criminal investigation of his nephew.
