Akron Middle and High Schools to carry Narcan
Dangerous new heroin mixtures — nearly 100 times more powerful than morphine — are popping up all over greater Cleveland and has forced first responders to arm themselves with Naxolone to ensure they won't overdose while helping someone else who is.
AKRON, Ohio - Officers working in Akron Public Schools' high schools and middle schools will now carry Narcan.
A third and final vote at the Akron school board meeting Monday night passed the policy.
The policy passed with a 5-1 vote with one board member absent, according to an Akron Schools spokesperson.
A school spokesperson says this is a precaution to allow officers to respond to an overdose situation if a need arises in or near the schools.
