BARBERTON, Ohio — Organizers of the Cherry Blossom Festival in Barberton have canceled the annual festival out of safety concerns, according to a Facebook post by the Barberton Area Jaycees Board Members.
Board members were not specific, but said that after the events that happened last year, they are not confident that they can provide that safety.
“This organization has put on the festival for 63 years and it pains us to have to come to this decision. Our committee will be meeting this week to decide how to move forward. We may look to host the festival in a different location in 2021 as we would not be able to have it in the current location.”
Organizers also said the Jaycees are 100% funded from the proceeds of the Cherry Blossom Festival and are unsure about the future of the organization.
“It has been our honor to host the event and we apologize to those of you who came to the Festival and looked forward to it every year," organizers said.
