GREEN, Ohio — A couple sitting in a hospital room in Summit County Thursday afternoon was injured when a car crashed through the wall and into an examination room.

Deputies said that around 2:45 p.m. they received 911 calls about an erratic driver swerving all over the southbound lanes on I-77 near South Arlington Road.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered that the car went off the side of the road, down an embankment, through a fence and crashed into the side of Summa Health Green Medical Center.

The car finally stopped after it smashed into an examination room, injuring a female patient and her husband who were inside.

The patient and her husband were both treated for injuries, authorities said. The car’s 37-year-old driver was transported to Akron City Hospital for treatment.

During a search, deputies said that they found suspected drugs inside the car.

Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
