The Summit County Prosecutor's Office is offering free cab rides to people who have had too much to drink over the July 4 holiday.

The program, called "Arrive Alive," will provide free rides up to $65 for anyone in the county from 6 p.m. July 3 to 6 a.m. on July 5.

The following taxi companies are participating in the event:

  • Rides 4 Less Taxi
  • City Yellow Cab
  • Anytime Taxi

You can call for a ride by dialing 330-475-7888.

“I feel this is extremely important to help keep our streets safe. For years I have fought to keep drunk drivers off the road,” said Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh. “I’ve gone to the State Legislature to have our drunken driving laws strengthened. My hope is for everyone to enjoy the holiday while not putting others at risk. I would like to thank our sponsor AAA Akron, and the participating taxi companies, Rides 4 Less Taxi, City Yellow Cab, and Anytime Taxi for their support in this effort.”
