The Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office reported possible new evidence recovered may be connected to the murder of Darlene Renner.
Authorities were told Renner's boyfriend's son saw an unknown man on top of Renner, striking or stabbing her on March 17. It is unknown if Renner was sexually assaulted by the suspect who stabbed her to death, police reported.
Authorities said on Monday, the Sheriff's Office found clothing, other articles, and a possible murder weapon from the Midvale area. The recovery was possible due to an alert passerby who noticed some items along the road about 2.5 miles from the murder scene.
The articles, officials said, have given police a clear suspect to Renner's stabbing.
Police said while no other specific details can be released at this time, authorities can say with confidence that the community does not need to be concerned about a violent intruder roaming free.
Authorities said several items were submitted to the State Crime Lab. Results on those items are expected back in three to four weeks.
