Mansfield daycare abuse allegations continue, Anastasia Salyer still in hospital

Posted

11-month-old Anatasia Salyers is in fair condition Friday, still recovering from the incident at her daycare center.

The baby girl suffered a fractured skull, brain bleed, and fractured right arm. According to reports from the Sheriff's department, she's not the first child injured at Step By Step Childcare in Mansfield.

NewsChannel 5 combed through 27 pages of reports from the Sheriff's Department. There's a child abuse allegation from April and there's an injury report from July, where police and paramedics were sent to Step by Step for a 1-year-old child that fell and was bleeding.

John Rinehardt, Salyers' family attorney told NewsChannel 5 Anastasia's mother did not know about the reports.

Rinehardt said Step by Steps' incident report and Anastasia's injuries don't match up. The childcare center claimed she was sitting on the ground and fell over.

"There's no way that the injuries, and the doctors have said this, there's no way for her to have sustained the fractured arm. The fractured skull. The bleeding on the brain. If the story is what's captured on their incident report," he said.
