A photo of a birthday cake decorated at a Michigan grocery store is going viral as people hear the story of kindness surrounding the event.
Over the weekend, Lisa Aldrich posted the photo when she purchased the cake at a Meijer supermarket. In her Facebook post, she said she asked an employee to decorate it for a birthday. She thanked the employee, and went to go pay for it.
On her way to the checkout counter, she said, she got a big surprise.
On Facebook, Aldrich wrote, "After looking, I nervously laughed and headed to checkout - it didn't really matter to me that it looked so bad - I thought people would think it was funny. The cashiers at the self check out didn’t think it was so funny.”
They called a manager and other employees over, and she was offered a new cake, but she didn't want a replacement.
The employees told Aldrich about the person who decorated the birthday cake.
“... one cashier put her arm on my shoulder and said 'the girl who wrote that has Autism. Thank you for smiling and thanking her- even though she’s not supposed to write on cakes, you probably made her day.'”
After the pose was shared some 40,000 times, Aldrich wrote, "I didn't do anything special. Be nice. That is all." Read the original post below.
