Citizens Bank customers had problems with their accounts Friday morning due to a "processing issue," as the company said on its Twitter account.
News 5 received this statement from the bank:
“Earlier today customers experienced a delay in transactions posting to their accounts due to a processing issue. As of 10:40 this morning, all customer accounts are current. We appreciate the patience of our customers as we worked through this issue, and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
Citizens Bank operates in 11 states, including Ohio. According to its website, "Citizens helps its retail customers 'bank better' with mobile and online banking and the convenience of approximately 3,200 ATMs and approximately 1,200 branches in 11 states in the New England, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions."
The bank issued the following statement to News 5 Cleveland:
“Due to a vendor processing issue affecting multiple financial institutions, customers are seeing a delay in transactions posting to their accounts. We appreciate the patience of our customers as we work with our vendor to resolve this issue.”
