SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Stories about the iconic restaurant chain Big Boy changing its logo to “Dolly,” a female mascot, have been circulating the internet after the restaurant introduced the new logo during a recent promotion.

The restaurant chain issued some clarification on the matter, saying that the iconic Big Boy mascot and logo never left.

"Big Boy is America’s favorite mascot and has never, nor will he ever be replaced," Big Boy Restaurants said.

The restaurant said that the usage of the Dolly logo was intended to be part of the promotion for the chain’s new Dolly Chicken Sandwich that was recently launched.

“While headlines are catchy and meant to grab attention, nothing will ever replace our Big Boy. He has been a part of the fabric the community for decades and will continue to be there for generations to come,” said Kelly Murphy, VP of Operations. “Big Boy, is and always will be the beloved icon that makes people smile.”

So while Dolly is a welcome new face for the restaurant chain during their sandwich promotion, Big Boy fans can rest assured knowing that he isn’t going anywhere, now or ever, the company said.
