DETROIT, Michigan — Police say a man was shot at in relation to a road rage incident on eastbound I-96 in Detroit on Saturday.

The man said he may have inadvertently cut some one off, and noticed a vehicle tailgating him, saying he "may" have let off the gas.

He then moved to the right lane, and the tailgating vehicle moved to the left lane, and began to pass him on I-96 somewhere between Warren and Martin Luther King.

The man told police one shot was fired at his vehicle as it was being passed. The suspect vehicle is described as light colored with three occupants.

Police say no one was injured in the incident and the bullet did not penetrate the vehicle. Troopers and detectives shut down the freeway for approximately two hours and conducted a search, collecting evidence.

The investigation is not related to the recent freeway shootings in Detroit, police say.

MSP reminds the public that if you become involved in an altercation with another driver, do not make eye contact and try to exit the freeway or turn off the route to let the other vehicle continue on.

If you feel threatened, call 911.
