An Oklahoma elementary school is taking student safety one step further by installing bulletproof shelters inside classrooms.
According to ABC News, Healdton Public Schools has installed seven shelters in various classrooms within their elementary schools and two larger units inside their middle school.
A shelter is also being planned for the district's high school.
ABC News said the school's superintendent told KOCO-TV that he personally tested the shelters by standing inside one while the unit was shot at.
Each of the elementary school shelters can hold up to 35 students and two teachers, ABC reported.
