The first Republican presidential debate has been scheduled for Aug. 6 in Cleveland, according to sources.

The Republican National Committee has decided to hold the first debate at the Quicken Loans Arena, sources confirm to newsnet5.com’s John Kosich.

The Ohio Republican Party would not confirm this information.

It was announced back in January the Republican National Convention will be held from July 18 to 21, 2016.

Among the declared front runners include Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, Mike Huckabee, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich is considered a potential candidate, but has not declared his intent to run for office.

In April, Kasich filed paperwork creating “New Day for America,” a nonprofit 527 that will enable him to raise unlimited funds to pay for travel and other expenses as he considers further running for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.
