Parma Police warn of active fake Facebook page

The Parma Police Department warned the public of a fake Facebook page created in its name and is still active on the website.

According to Parma police, detectives are working with Facebook officials to have the fake account removed. 

Police said the account is using the name "The City of Parma Police Department" and was set up to be similar to the department's official Facebook page.

Parma police said the real Facebook page for the department can be found under the name "City of Parma Police Department."

The public should disregard any and all information posted on the fake Facebook account, police said. The person(s) who created the fake account are not employed with the police department and were never authorized to post information on behalf of Parma police.
