COSCHOCTON, Ohio — An 84-year-old Coshocton man was allegedly assaulted over a political sign dispute.
Police said they were called to the 80 block of Zero Street on Oct. 20 for an assault.
When they arrived, they found an 84-year-old man bleeding from the top of his right hand, as well as the left side of his face near his ear.
The 84-year-old told police Melvin Wallace asked him why he had a Joe Biden sign in his front yard and became angry.
He asked Wallace to leave, and that's when he says he was attacked.
A witness told police Wallace punched and kicked the 84-year-old.
The 84-year-old was transported to the hospital.
Wallace told police that he was angry with the way he was treated and had been thinking about it for a couple of days, before returning to the victim's house and fighting.
According to police, Wallace is claiming self-defense, although he never mentioned being assaulted by the 84-year-old.
Officers served Wallace with a summons for assault on October 23.
