ASHLAND OHIO, — Ashland University is hoping to woo prospective future students who are planning to major in education by offering them free tuition.
The free tuition is being offered through the new Eagle Opportunity Program.
According to the Times-Gazette, the program covers tuition for four years as long as the student meets the following requirements:
- Must be an Ohio resident
- Must be eligible for a Pell Grant
- Must register as a full-time student at AU
- Must have filed their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Must be part of a household with an annual income less than $50,000
Typical tuition for the fall through spring semesters is around $20,000, the Times-Gazette reported.
The program has been funded by an anonymous donor. The program does not cover books or room and board.
The anonymous donor is “highly committed” and will cover costs for up to 50 students above what the Pell Grant covers, the Times-Gazette reported.
