Butler Co.: Madison Schools shooter in custody

A couple Madison Local Schools students will be dismissed early after a shooting suspect was taken into custody on Monday, according to Madison Local Schools.

The Butler County Sheriff's Department tweeted on Monday that the schools were secure and there was a shooter in custody. Parents of students who were injured were notified.

The sheriff's office said two students were shot and taken to the hospital with what seemed to be non-life threatening injuries. Two other students were injured as well.

The suspect, according to the sheriff's office, was described as a 14-year-old student. The student ran from the scene and was caught. The suspect's name is not being released yet.

Around 12:45 p.m. Monday, Madison Local Schools said it received clearance from the sheriff. Students at the high school and elementary school were dismissed.
