A campaign staffer for John Kasich was fired Saturday after an Ohio media outlet contacted the campaign officials to ask about a domestic violence charge that was filed in November.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, 30-year-old Blake Waggoner, who served as the campaign’s deputy digital director was released from his position.

Court records show that Waggoner was charged on November 13, 2015 with a single count of simple assault to which he plead not guilty.

Waggoner is scheduled to appear in court in April for a deferred sentencing review.

Officials on Kasich’s campaign could not be reached for comment.
