Man hit by forklift at Ohio Honda facility dies

Posted

Authorities say a worker died after being hit in the head by a forklift at a Hondas research and development facility in central Ohio.

A Union County coroner's investigator says a contract worker at the Honda R&D Americas facility was struck Monday morning while walking outside in a causeway between buildings.

Investigator Lance Emberling says Ghouse Gulam was taken to a hospital where he died from a crushed skull.

Investigators say the forklift was carrying a trash bucket and the driver's visibility may have been hindered. Honda said Gulam was a resident of Livonia, Michigan, living in Ohio temporarily while working at the Honda site. Honda says the forklift driver was also a contract worker.

Emberling says the coroner's office and the county sheriff's office continue to investigate.
