The Franklin County Sheriff's Department will not send deputies to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland to help with security.
The Columbus Dispatch reports the sheriff's department backed out because the City of Cleveland "failed to meet his department's deadline for working out concerns."
Those concerns included the amount of insurance available to cover law enforcement in possible volatile situations.
Sheriff Zach Scott told the Columbus Dispatch he was concerned that the city had only a $10 million protest insurance policy. The city increased that policy to $50 million on June 29 but Scott had already decided to back out by then.
