A Youngstown man was charged after he admitted to police that he was having sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl and planned to have a child with her and move them to Mexico, according to the Northern Ohio's U.S. Attorney's Office.
David Guevara, Sr., 35, has been charged in federal court with attempted transportation and transportation of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity, law enforcement officials said. His arrest warrant was issued on April 11, while he was being held in the Mahoning County Jail on state charges.
He told local police that he met the girl in July of 2015 and began having sex with her, initially in a tent under a Youngstown bridge, according authorities. The girl traveled to Philadelphia with Guevara, where the two continued to have sex, the complaint stated.
When they traveled to Philadelphia, Guevara knew she was 15 years old, the complaint stated.
A charge is not evidence of guilt.
