It's been 97 years since this country first celebrated Veterans Day. November 11, 1919 marked the first anniversary of World War One.

Veteran David Acks was born seven years later.

"I wouldn't miss this for anything in the world," Acks said.

And he's been celebrating this country and honoring those who sacrificed through a life of service ever since.

"I love this country and I love the world," he said.

Acks was joined by generations at Lakewood's Veterans Day ceremony, all coming together to salute those who let the flag fly free.

"We'll never forget these days. We want to pass them on, that's all," Acks said.
