For Game 3 starter Josh Tomlin, pitching at Wrigley Field is special.
That’s because his dad gets to be there Friday night.
Just last week, his father was in the hospital.
In August, Jerry Tomlin was forced to have emergency surgery because of a rare condition. His blood vessels got tangled on his spinal cord and it left him paralyzed from the chest down.
He may never walk again.
But despite all of that, Tomlin says his father remains strong.
Jerry watched both of Josh’s postseason starts from a rehab center in Dallas.
Friday night, he will be in the stands at Wrigley to cheer on his son.
“Oh it means a lot, he hasn’t been to a game in quite a while and it didn’t look like he was going to be able to come to a game at all," Tomlin said. "To have him here and to just be able to see him is the thing I’m most looking forward to but the fact that we get to experience a World Series together is pretty neat.”
