ESPN: Indians replace Chief Wahoo with Block C

and last updated

The Cleveland Indians have demoted Chief Wahoo to second place and will now use the 'Block C' as its primary logo, ESPN reported on Saturday.

ESPN credited the information to owner Paul Dolan.

The Indians have been phasing back their use of the Chief Wahoo for years, ESPN reported. The franchise removed it from the road cap in 2011 and from its home batting helmet in 2013. The logo, however, still has a home on the sleeve of the Indians' jerseys.

Many have said this announcement was made two years ago, including a spokesperson for the team. However, ESPN still reported this to be an "official delegation."
