Indians catcher Yan Gomes has had a rough season.
But his teammates aren't hanging him out to dry. In fact, they're doing everything possible to make sure he comes out of his slump.
On Saturday, that meant sacrificing a chicken. (Seriously).
The team summoned the baseball gods (and Jobu) and asked them to absolve the player of "any wrongdoings he may have committed to thee."
The ceremony may look familiar. It's reminiscent of the one in 'Major League.'
Gomes is batting just .163 this season. According to ESPN, he has only had one hit since June 29.
Did it work? I guess we'll have to find out. But it looked like fun nonetheless.
