This is happening. The Cleveland Indians have won 20 STRAIGHT.
It began Aug. 24 in Boston. Then, on Tuesday night, the Tribe tied the American League record by beating the Detroit Tigers 2-0. They now share the 20-win record with the Oakland Athletics.
If we make it to 22 wins, we'll surpass the Chicago Cubs, who won 21 straight games in 1935.
What happens after that is up for debate.
Some say that the longest streak ever is 26 games, by the 1916 New York Giants.
However, there was a tie in the middle of that streak. The Giants won 12 straight games in September before tying the Pirates, 1-1. Then they won 14 more games.
So what does Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona think about all this?
He doesn't.
"I've given that zero thought," he said Wednesday.
Today, I asked Tito what streak he considers to be the record.
1916 Giants or the 1935 Cubs?
His response was amusing! @WEWS @Indians pic.twitter.com/7Qb1vHFYL9— Hakem Dermish (@hakemdermish5) September 13, 2017
