On Saturday night the Cavs lost a very physical Game 3 to the Toronto Raptors.
After the game, LeBron James was asked about retaliating. For his answer, he turned to hip hop.
"I always think back to the Jay-Z phrase, that line he had of 'if I shoot you, I'm brainless but if you shoot me, then you're famous.'"
Social media went abuzz but really, should anyone be surprised?
Hip hop and basketball have been married for a long time. They flourished back in the 80s.
Now many basketball players, including the Cavs' Iman Shumpert, have pursued music careers.
So LeBron using lyrics to keep his logic....
"That always plays in my head, anytime I feel like I want to react...I gotta keep my brain."
...just part of an ongoing collaboration between a couple that's lasted a lot longer than a one hit wonder.
