The younger brother of former Cleveland Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters' was killed in Philadelphia, ABC affiliate KOCO reported Wednesday

The Oklahoma City station referred to Waiters' Instagram page, in which he posted a photo that read, in part: "The call I just got about my lil brother wasn't expecting this (expletive)...crushed my heart I never questioned why...But this hurt..."

The station also cited a report by Fox29 in Philadelphia, which stated that Waiters' brother was among six people who were murdered Tuesday.

ESPN reported that Waiters would not be with the team on Wednesday when the Thunder face the Los Angeles Clippers as he mourns his brother's death.

Waiters, a guard with the Oklahoma City Thunder, was traded by the Cavs in January of 2015. The Cavs received J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert and a first round pick from the Thunder as part of the deal.
