CLEVLEAND — On Thursday, the Cleveland Browns began interviews for the head coach position with former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy, according to a release from the Browns.

McCarthy won a Super Bowl and has 26 years of experience in the NFL.

A Pittsburgh native who rose up the ranks as an offensive assistant for decades before landing a head coaching job, McCarthy won 10 playoff games, including a Super Bowl XLV victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

McCarthy, 56, was out of the game in 2019 but kept busy by studying league trends, watching film and preparing as if he were a leader of the league’s “33 staff,” according to an NFL Network profile.

Under his leadership, Green Bay's offense didn't miss a beat transitioning from Hall of Famer Brett Favre to future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers.
