The Cleveland Browns have signed quarterback Charlie Whitehurst.
Both the Browns and Whitehurst's agent confirmed Monday night that he signed with the Browns.

The announcement comes after the earlier report that Cody Kessler will be starting this week's game, in place of injured Josh McCowan.
When Hue Jackson was asked about signing a veteran quarterback he said, “I think that is where my point was coming from. We will do everything we can to see if we can help the position first and foremost. Obviously, Cody has to be the guy, but we are also going to keep searching around and making sure that we cross every 'T' and dot every 'I' and see if there is somebody else out there that can help our football team."
