CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns announced Sunday that they have waived running back Dontrell Hilliard.

Hilliard has been with the Browns since 2018 when he was signed as an undrafted free agent. He spent time on the practice squad and made his NFL debut against the Chargers that same year.

In his rookie season, Hilliard recorded 105 receiving yards on nine receptions in the 11 games he played.

During his time in Cleveland, Hilliard provided depth to the backfield while also serving as a return specialist in 2019, returning 15 punts for 107 yards and 17 kicks for 421 yards in 2019. He has recorded 199 receiving yards in 22 receptions and 97 rushing yards on 22 carries with two touchdowns over the course of his career.

The Browns tendered Hilliard in March and he was waived in September when the team named their initial 53-man roster. Hilliard was soon after signed to the team’s practice squad and elevated to the active roster before the game against the Dallas Cowboys.
