Friday marked the beginning of the Browns Training Camp and the facility was a buzz with activity. It was time to begin (or rather continue) their hard work in preparation for the upcoming season.
Midday on Friday, Cody Kessler, Josh McCown, and Joe Haden stopped to give their perspectives on their experiences thus far, their motivation moving forward, and the changes that have come to the team.
Rookie quarterback Cody Kessler was the first to speak, remarking about how the Browns owners are a motivation.
"Jimmy and Dee Haslam are amazing, they came in yesterday and spoke to us, and I obviously am a rookie, so I haven't heard many other owner speeches but for me it was just, it was amazing... they came in and sat down and started talking as if we were their own family... it made the guys, or, you know I won't speak for everyone, but for me and the rookies we talked about, it just felt like, you know, you want to win games for them, you wanted to play for them, you wanted to pay them back for everything they've done for us."
But what about the return of Josh Gordon? What effect did that have on his team?
Joe Haden was quick to remark how excited Gordon is to be back.
"He's super excited, you know you see the joy. When he came back to the locker room as soon as I saw him I ran up to him, gave him a hug, and was like 'JG, you know I"m so happy for you to be back.' He was like 'bro, you don't understand I'm so happy to be back.' Just passionate... He just feels like this is an opportunity he doesn't want to give up. When he brings you in, he embraces you to make you feel like a brother."
