AKRON, Ohio — Students and staff at the University of Akron were issued a notice Wednesday evening that a member of the university’s community tested positive for COVID-19.

After testing positive, the individual is now self-isolating at home, the university said.

The University of Akron has notified the Summit County Health Department and contract tracing will be conducted to mitigate the spread of the virus from the reported incident, according to the university.

The university plans to resume in-person instruction for the fall semester, with changes in the way things look around campus in order to follow best practices and guidelines surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Students will be required to wear masks to in-person classes and lectures. After leaving for Thanksgiving break, all exams, papers projects and classes will be conducted online, the university previously said.
